All facilities age over time, and this also affects communication networks. Regardless of whether the aging is due to wear or external influences from the production environment, the first signs are often sporadic deviations that easily go unnoticed. If the deviations are not detected, the risk of errors increases, which can threaten the plant's operation. But it doesn't have to go that far!

By regularly or permanently monitoring the communication quality in the plant network, almost all errors can be avoided. Such preventive maintenance (also called predictive maintenance) can be performed by trained maintenance personnel or external specialists, such as our service technicians. The choice depends on how to weigh the costs in each case.

• The networks are maintained by your own staff with relevant training and the necessary equipment. Monitor, control and maintain your facility networks on your own. Professional training and appropriate measurement equipment are required.
• The networks are maintained by an external service provider. Hire an external specialist for regular inspection and maintenance of the facility networks. The scope of services varies.
• Combined maintenance with in-house personnel and external support. Relieve your own maintenance staff where needed. An external partner can assist with time-saving troubleshooting or perform maintenance, for example based on data collected through permanent network monitoring.

To maximize availability, we recommend that communication quality is tested regularly from the time the network is put into use. The tests can be performed by your own staff after appropriate training and with the right measuring equipment.
