Intelligent network monitoring for PROFINET and Ethernet/IP
When installing PROFINET networks in machines and plants, the connection cables must be tested so that they function correctly and can be certified. Until now, it has been necessary to carry out such tests separately. With PROmesh P10+, for the first time there is an alternative to this complex procedure.
The PROmesh P10+ industrial switch belongs to the latest generation of Gigabit switches and has integrated cable diagnosis that meets both the requirements for cable measurement and permanent, qualitative cable monitoring. Therefore, it is suitable for line testing in connection with commissioning and during operation of the plant.
In short: Be ready to make a well-founded statement about the network's "wear reserve" at any time - without interrupting the plant's operation. With this knowledge, maintenance becomes more predictable.
Online cable diagnostics (during operation)
Thanks to a sophisticated evaluation system of the transmission and reception parameters, the PROmesh P10+ switch can provide clear information about the current transmission quality and the condition of the data lines. In order to visualize the physical wear and tear of the network cables, a quality value ("Q current value") is determined permanently for each cable. This status value is compared with a "Q setpoint" corresponding to the cable length. In this way, the line status of each port can be determined.
The status of each data cable can be easily checked via the web interface integrated into the PROmesh P10+. Thanks to the traffic light principle, it is possible to immediately detect when the value falls below the preset threshold value. During the next maintenance interval, damaged cables may be replaced depending on condition. All alarms can also be transferred to a higher level network monitoring system (via SNMP, PROFINET, e-mail or relay).
